Senior Fullstack Engineer (TypeScript), AI Engineering: Editor Extensions

Role Overview

Senior Fullstack Engineer on the AI Engineering: Editor Extensions (Multi-Platform) team. You will design and build tools that integrate GitLab Duo into developers’ daily workflows across multiple surfaces, including Duo CLI, JetBrains IDEs, the terminal, and other editor interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of multi-platform editor extensions bringing GitLab Duo into daily developer workflows (discovery → rollout → iteration).
• Build and operate TypeScript/Node.js services for the GitLab Duo CLI, including rich interactive terminal experiences with strong reliability, observability, and performance.
• Develop and evolve a JetBrains IDE plugin using Kotlin and the IntelliJ Platform SDK, contributing to architectural decisions and long-term maintainability.
• Implement features in the GitLab Language Server to deliver consistent AI-assisted workflows across editors and platforms.
• Build modern, accessible UI components using Vue 3 and component libraries (shadcn-style) with Tailwind-based theming.
• Shape multi-platform architecture, reduce technical debt, and drive improvements in scalability and developer experience.
• Collaborate with product/design/engineering to align technical decisions with the broader multi-platform strategy.
• Ensure product quality, security, performance, and developer experience through strong code reviews, mentorship, and shared standards across TypeScript and Kotlin codebases.
