About the role

Role Overview

As a Senior Fullstack Engineer at Grafana Labs, you will work on the company’s Real User Monitoring (RUM) initiative. You’ll build and evolve end-to-end fullstack features to ingest, process, and visualize high-volume telemetry data from browsers and mobile devices.

Key Missions

Design and implement systems to ingest, store, and query high-cardinality, high-volume telemetry.
Develop high-performance query layers and APIs that power real-time exploration of user sessions, traces, and events.
Collaborate with SDK engineers (browser and mobile) to ensure high-quality ingestion and schema evolution.
Contribute to frontend applications that visualize RUM data.
Own projects from design through deployment.

Requirements

5+ years of fullstack engineering experience with strong backend fundamentals.
Strong knowledge of data modeling, query optimization, and performance tradeoffs.
Experience designing and building APIs and distributed services.
Backend experience with Go (preferred) and frontend experience with TypeScript and React.
Experience with high-throughput, high-cardinality data (logs, metrics, traces, events).
Familiarity with observability concepts (traces, logs, metrics) and/or OpenTelemetry.
Experience building data-heavy UIs (dashboards, query tools, debugging interfaces).
Ability to communicate and work effectively in a remote, distributed team.

Nice-to-haves / Additional Signals

Familiarity with cloud-native systems: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, Azure.
Production experience with distributed systems/data stores such as Kafka, WarpStream, ClickHouse, Cassandra, Postgres.
Experience with browser or mobile instrumentation (RUM SDKs, telemetry collection).
Mobile experience (iOS/Android) and/or knowledge of mobile performance telemetry.
Contributions to OpenTelemetry or other observability OSS.
Experience building developer-facing platforms or observability products.
Familiarity with session replay, sampling strategies, user behavior analytics.
Pragmatic, self-driven, comfortable with ambiguity.
