Senior Fullstack Engineer

Role Overview

Senior Fullstack Engineer (Grafana Observability) working on Real User Monitoring (RUM). You will build and evolve fullstack features that capture, ingest, store, query, and visualize user interaction telemetry from browsers and mobile devices.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement systems to ingest, store, and query high-cardinality, high-volume telemetry.
• Develop high-performance query layers and APIs that power real-time exploration of sessions, traces, and events.
• Collaborate with RUM SDK engineers (browser + mobile) to ensure high-quality ingestion and schema evolution.
• Contribute to frontend applications that visualize RUM data.
• Own projects from design through deployment.
• Work in a remote, distributed team with strong communication.

Requirements

• Experience building developer-facing platforms or observability products.
• Customer-focused mindset and strong developer experience orientation.
• Strong communication skills working remotely.
• Experience with high-throughput, high-cardinality data (logs, metrics, traces, events).
• Familiarity with session replay, sampling strategies, or user behavior analytics systems.
• Backend experience (preferably Go) and frontend experience.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, query optimization, and performance tradeoffs.
• Experience designing/building APIs and distributed services.
• Familiarity with observability concepts (traces, logs, metrics) and/or OpenTelemetry.
• Experience operating distributed systems in production (examples: Kafka, WarpStream, ClickHouse, Cassandra, PostgreSQL).
• 5+ years of fullstack engineering experience with solid backend fundamentals.

Nice-to-haves

• Contributions to OpenTelemetry or other observability OSS.
• Familiarity with cloud-native systems (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Experience with RUM instrumentation (SDKs/telemetry collection) and/or mobile development (iOS or Android).
