About the role

Role overview

Senior Fullstack Engineer working at the intersection of engineering and product to help users build with Hygraph. You’ll ship customer-driven features, evolve the core GraphQL-native CMS, extend platform capabilities, and bring AI-powered features to life—without waiting for perfect specs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and evolve the GraphQL-native CMS: improve performance, reliability, and developer experience.
  • Build and maintain CMS extensions and integrations.
  • Contribute to the AI roadmap by implementing intelligent product capabilities.
  • Proactively improve customer-facing outcomes using monitoring data and customer feedback.
  • Work in a cross-functional autonomous team: deliver from rough prototypes/early concepts.
  • Translate business needs into technical solutions with Product; occasionally join customer conversations.
  • Make and support architectural decisions for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Use and benefit from AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery.
  • Drive issue resolution end-to-end using observability data.
  • Share knowledge and help teammates grow.

Expectations timeline

  • 1 month: onboarding, meet the team/company, learn the codebase, ship first contributions.
  • 3 months: deliver production features/improvements confidently; deepen understanding of product and architecture.
  • 6 months: make significant product/team contributions; raise the bar on performance and how the team works.

Requirements

  • 6+ years experience owning production systems with strong full-stack skills in JavaScript/TypeScript and deep backend expertise.
  • Node.js preferred.
  • UI experience, ideally React.
  • API development experience with GraphQL.
  • Relational database knowledge, especially PostgreSQL (schema design, query optimization).
  • Active use of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor, Codex).
  • Cloud-native familiarity: AWS and/or GCP.
  • Monitoring/observability experience (New Relic mentioned in the posting, truncated).

Nice-to-haves (implied)

  • Experience building scalable, reliable, and maintainable architectures in a collaborative product engineering environment.
  • Comfort participating in customer conversations to validate outcomes.
