About the role
Role Overview
Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer (Infrastructure/DevOps) responsible for modernizing large-scale, secure cloud platforms that support important national missions. You will design and operate cloud-native infrastructure, enable advanced automation, and help integrate security and compliance directly into development workflows.
Accountabilities
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Design, build, and maintain secure cloud infrastructure, primarily using AWS CDK with TypeScript.
- Cloud platform engineering: Manage networking, compute, data stores, secrets management, and platform automation.
- CI/CD optimization: Architect CI/CD pipelines with advanced capabilities (e.g., affected-only builds, remote caching, merge queues, test optimization).
- DevSecOps & compliance by design: Integrate security controls and compliance automation, including artifact signing and security evidence generation.
- Zero Trust architecture: Implement identity integration, mTLS, policy-as-code authorization, and continuous security monitoring.
- AI-assisted workflows: Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate engineering while ensuring production-quality standards.
- Developer experience improvements: Maintain development frameworks/standards and automated workflows to improve team productivity.
- Full-stack troubleshooting: Resolve issues across application code, infrastructure, databases, and deployment systems.
- Regulated environment compliance: Ensure platforms meet strict security/compliance requirements, including DoD Impact Level 4 (IL4).
- Collaboration: Partner with engineering teams to improve reliability, scalability, and developer experience.
Requirements
- U.S. Secret security clearance eligibility.
- 7+ years operating/building/deploying production cloud platforms.
- Strong IaC experience, especially AWS CDK and TypeScript.
- Deep knowledge of cloud architecture, distributed systems, DevOps, and production engineering.
- Hands-on experience with agentic AI development tools (e.g., Codex, Claude Code, or similar).
- Strong software engineering background with Node.js, PostgreSQL, and Prisma (or similar).
- Experience with container orchestration such as Kubernetes/EKS or ECS.
- Experience operating secure cloud infrastructure in high-compliance environments (ideally DoD IL4 or similar).
- Knowledge of CI/CD architecture, automated testing, observability, and infrastructure optimization.
- Preferred: security hardening knowledge (e.g., STIG requirements) and secure container/OS configuration.
Nice to Have
- Developer experience and build performance optimization.
- Legacy system modernization and workflow orchestration tools such as Temporal.
