About the role

Role Overview

Commence is hiring a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain both front-end and back-end components of its applications. You’ll work with cross-functional partners to deliver software that is scalable, secure, and efficient—especially in complex, data-heavy environments.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable web applications across the full stack
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to turn business requirements into technical specs
Build and integrate APIs between front-end and back-end systems
Design, configure, and deploy serverless applications and cloud solutions using AWS
Support mission-critical applications at scale with high availability and performance
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers
Process and optimize applications handling large data sets
Optimize performance for speed and scalability
Ensure security and compliance, particularly for data handling and storage
Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to maintain code quality
Continuously improve existing systems by identifying enhancements

Requirements

7+ years of full-stack development experience
Strong problem-solving skills for complex technical challenges
Experience with multiple languages/frameworks, with specific experience in React and Node.js
Hands-on experience deploying/managing serverless applications on AWS
Experience with AWS services including: Amplify, EC2, S3, Lambda, SNS, RDS (and others)
Experience building/maintaining mission-critical applications at scale
Experience working with large data sets and performance optimization
Web services, database integration, and web-based deployment skills
Unit testing and improving quality via static code analysis and security findings
CI/CD pipeline experience
Database experience (relational and/or NoSQL)
Git-based version control
Strong attention to detail, commitment to code quality, and excellent communication

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with document management systems
OCR (Optical Character Recognition) experience
Experience in healthcare technology or other regulated industries
AWS Certifications
Familiarity with Azure and/or GCP
AI/ML skills
