About the role
Role Overview
Bitwarden is hiring a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to help deliver valuable features across the full development lifecycle. This is an all-remote role where you will take ownership of engineering outcomes, contribute hands-on to Bitwarden products, and help shape both product direction and team practices.
Responsibilities
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry standards
- Build rapid prototypes and proof-of-concepts to validate new technical approaches
- Learn and implement new technologies independently; stay current on tech trends
- Make informed technology choices even with limited documentation
- Mentor teammates on new technologies and development approaches
- Become an expert/authority on the Bitwarden codebase across:
- backend infrastructure and APIs
- database
- web app
- browser extensions
- desktop apps
- Participate in hands-on development of Bitwarden products
- Perform code reviews and spread technical knowledge
Requirements
- Experience working with some or all of the stack:
- C#, TypeScript, Rust
- Proficiency with source control (e.g., Git; also SVN/Subversion/TFS)
- Collaborative and adaptable mindset
- Open, authentic communication skills
- Strong problem-solving ability and ability to find/communicate solutions

- Open source experience
- Experience with: Azure, .NET, Electron, Angular, web browser extensions

Compensation / Location Notes
- Remote role; no visa sponsorship at this time.
- In the United States, starting base compensation range: $140,000–$200,000/year (varies by level, experience, skills, and market data).
