Senior Full Stack Engineer

Role overview

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer at GOAT, you will shape consumer-facing experiences by leading full-stack architecture and system design. You will own the backend roadmap and coordinate cross-functional delivery with a high degree of autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Lead full stack architecture and system design
• Proactively propose and drive new systems supporting critical customer-facing features
• Take point on initiatives by owning the backend roadmap and driving technical decisions
• Coordinate cross-functional delivery across teams
• Serve as the team’s technical anchor:
  • Set engineering standards
  • Lead design reviews
  • Unblock teammates

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• Strong frontend experience with React, TypeScript, Next.js, Node.js (or similar modern web tech)
• Proven experience acting as a tech lead (leading/mentoring and enabling execution)
• Deep understanding of modern web service technologies, tradeoffs, and design patterns
• Experience building high-traffic consumer applications
• T-shaped engineering mindset with deep expertise in at least one domain (e.g., API design, data pipelines, event-driven architectures, infrastructure)
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity, resolving conflict constructively, and building consensus across teams
• Ownership mindset: identify problems, propose solutions, and execute
• 7+ years software engineering experience with strong backend/distributed systems expertise
• Strong proficiency in Go, Python, Ruby, or similar backend languages/frameworks
• Hands-on experience designing, building, and scaling distributed systems for real-world traffic

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Codex, Copilot)
• Familiarity/experience with ecommerce applications and high-scale commerce events
