Senior Frontend Software Engineer

Role Overview

Senior Frontend Software Engineer on WDTech (R&D) to help shape Walker & Dunlop’s Loan Origination and Servicing platform. You’ll design and build high-performance, data-intensive frontend applications that turn complex datasets into intuitive, actionable user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable frontend applications across new and existing product lines.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle: ideation/architecture → development → testing → deployment → iterative enhancements.
• Architect and evolve the frontend stack using JavaScript, Vue 3, Vuex, and Vite, with deployments via AWS (S3, CloudFront).
• Optimize performance, scalability, and security using build optimizations, caching strategies, and CDN best practices.
• Translate complex business/data requirements into data-rich, user-friendly interfaces in collaboration with Product Owners, Designers, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists.
• Deliver responsive, visually compelling applications that surface actionable insights from complex datasets.
• Proactively identify improvements to performance, maintainability, and UX; support engineering standards and code quality.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional web application development experience.
• Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Strong experience with Vue.js (Vue 3) and modern JavaScript (ES6+); ability to build responsive, mobile-first apps.
• Experience deploying client-facing apps on AWS (S3, CloudFront).
• Familiarity integrating mapping/geospatial libraries (e.g., Mapbox).
• Deep expertise in frontend performance optimization (bundle size reduction, lazy loading, load-time improvements).
• Strong knowledge of Vue 3 patterns and scalable state management (Vuex).
• Ability to implement PWA capabilities (service workers, offline behavior).
• Frontend security best practices (XSS prevention, data sanitization, secure authentication flows).
• Testing across unit, integration, and end-to-end levels.
• Understanding of web architecture including SSR and client-side hydration.
• Experience leveraging AI-enabled development tools to improve design/implementation/testing efficiency.
• Ownership mindset, quality and continuous improvement, and an Agile working style.

• Experience in real estate finance or financial services.
