About the role

Role Overview

Senior Frontend Software Engineer on Reddit’s Home Experience / Feeds Experience team. You’ll help build smooth, intuitive, and delightful feed experiences for a very large user base, working across product, design, and engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering to build new products and features users will love.
  • Own the full development lifecycle for major projects: design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
  • Write and review code and design docs; give feedback on product specs and mocks to ensure successful delivery.
  • Drive critical web initiatives across Reddit’s architecture, partnering with backend and other client engineers.
  • Contribute to engineering standards that improve developer workflows and mentor engineers.
  • Lead metrics-driven execution focused on operational excellence and system observability.
  • Partner with leadership to shape the roadmap that meets product and engineering goals.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of software development experience in one or more frontend-focused languages (including JavaScript (ES6) and TypeScript).
  • Experience with one or more frontend web frameworks: React, Vue, Angular (also mentions Lit/Polymer).
  • Strong CSS skills.
  • Strong organization: break down and prioritize work, keep projects on schedule.
  • BS degree in Computer Science or similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong user experience and usability mindset; advocates for users and understands user interactions.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-directed, action-oriented approach in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication skills; can collaborate effectively in fully remote settings.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, and/or API design/implementation.
  • Familiarity with Thrift basics.
  • Understanding of large-scale web apps and approaches for high RPS and complex pages.
  • Experience with social products.
