Senior Frontend Software Engineer, Home Experience

Role Overview

Senior Frontend Software Engineer for Reddit’s Home Experience / Feeds Experience team. You’ll help build and improve Reddit’s feed pages—one of the highest-traffic surfaces on the platform—so users can smoothly discover and engage with content at massive scale.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering to build new features users will love.
• Work with a team focused on shipping quickly and thoughtfully.
• Improve engineering standards and workflows; recommend best practices and mentor engineers.
• Own major project delivery end-to-end: design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Write and review code and design docs, and provide feedback on product specs and mocks.
• Drive critical work across Reddit’s web architecture, partnering with backend and other client engineers.
• Promote metrics-led execution, operational excellence, and system observability.
• Partner with leadership on roadmap planning aligned to product and engineering goals.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software development experience in one or more frontend-focused languages: JavaScript, TypeScript (ES6).
• Experience with frontend web frameworks such as React, Vue, Angular (listed alongside others), and CSS.
• Strong ability to break down and prioritize work, keep projects on schedule, and manage execution.
• User experience/usability focus and strong intuition for user behavior.
• BS in Computer Science (or similar) or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong communication skills; can partner effectively with teams in a fully remote environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with social products.
• Entrepreneurial, self-directed, action-oriented mindset in fast-paced environments.
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, and/or API design.
• Understanding of large-scale web applications and performance considerations for high RPS and complex pages.
