About the role

Role overview

Senior Frontend/Full-stack Developer for a US Federal Government client (remote). You must have prior experience in the US Federal Government/federal space and be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable microservices and enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot with REST APIs
  • Build and maintain high-volume real-time data ingestion and processing pipelines using data/streaming platforms
  • Develop and optimize backend services and distributed systems for large-scale analytics
  • Architect and implement CI/CD pipelines using DevOps tooling and container/orchestration platforms
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver scalable solutions
  • Work on AWS and Azure for deployment, automation, monitoring, and scalability
  • Develop secure applications using information assurance and cybersecurity best practices
  • Support DevOps activities (deployment automation, troubleshooting, monitoring, production support)
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to code reviews and retrospectives
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to architectural and technical design decisions

Required skills

  • Java/J2EE, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, RESTful Web Services, Microservices Architecture
  • Frontend and integration experience with AngularJS or VueJS, JavaScript, JSP/Servlets, Struts
  • Real-time data/streaming expertise with Kafka, Spark, NiFi, Storm, Databricks (and related tooling)
  • Cloud-native and platform experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, OpenShift
  • Strong CI/CD experience with Jenkins, Maven, Git (and related DevOps tooling)
  • Database experience with both relational and NoSQL systems (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, Elasticsearch)
  • Agile/Scrum methodology experience
  • Strong troubleshooting, performance optimization, and system integration skills

Preferred qualifications

  • Federal/government or defense program experience
  • Cybersecurity knowledge (e.g., PKI, secure communications, information assurance)
  • Experience with Scala, Python, Kotlin, or C++
  • Prior experience with high-volume data analytics and streaming systems
  • Active or prior Secret / TS/SCI clearance

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
  • Cloud/Java/data engineering certifications are a plus
