Senior Frontend Engineer (Tech Lead)

Role Overview

Lead the development and evolution of Meltwater’s frontend platform. This is a hands-on Tech Lead/Senior Frontend Engineer position combining team leadership with org-wide influence over UI quality, architecture, performance, and accessibility.

What You’ll Work On

• Lead a team of frontend engineers, owning delivery quality and technical direction.
• Own complex frontend systems and features end-to-end (from design to long-term production health).
• Drive org-wide initiatives across:
  • Design systems
  • Application performance
  • Frontend technical standards
• Define and evolve frontend architecture to support scalability, reliability, and rapid iteration.
• Set and enforce standards for code quality, testing, and maintainability.
• Identify and fix systemic performance and reliability issues in production.
• Build and scale interactive, data-heavy applications and AI-driven workflows.
• Partner with design, backend, and AI/ML teams to shape product direction and UX.
• Guide long-term UI technical strategy and key architectural decisions across teams.

• Operate as a technical leader for frontend at team and org level.

• Lead large, ambiguous initiatives with cross-team dependencies.
• Influence decisions beyond your immediate team and raise the bar for engineering quality.
• Mentor and develop engineers, establish standards, and hold the team accountable.
• Proactively identify gaps in the frontend platform and lead remediation.

Must-Have Requirements

• Strong React and TypeScript expertise, including architecture decisions at scale.
• Proven experience leading frontend teams or acting as a technical lead on complex systems.
• Track record owning and delivering large-scale, production-critical frontend systems.
• Experience driving cross-team/org-level initiatives (design systems, platform work, performance improvements).
• Deep understanding of frontend architecture, performance tradeoffs, and scalability.
• Experience integrating complex systems via GraphQL and/or REST APIs.
• Exceptional debugging skills across browser, performance, and production environments.
• Demonstrated ownership of codebase health, system reliability, and engineering standards.
• Ability to operate independently in ambiguous spaces and drive clarity.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical decisions.

Nice-to-Haves

• Next.js (or similar) experience in production at scale.
• Experience with monorepos and large shared codebases.
• Experience building AI-powered or data-intensive products.
• Familiarity with frontend observability and performance tooling.
• Strong product sense and ability to balance technical and UX tradeoffs.
