About the role

Role overview

Senior Frontend Engineer (Team Lead) will lead the development and evolution of Meltwater’s frontend platform. The role is hands-on and combines engineering delivery with team leadership and org-wide influence over UI technical direction.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of frontend engineers; own delivery quality and technical direction
Own complex frontend systems and features end-to-end (design through long-term production health)
Drive org-wide initiatives across:
- Design systems
- Application performance
- Frontend technical standards
Define and evolve frontend architecture for scalability, reliability, and rapid iteration
Establish and enforce standards for code quality, testing, and maintainability
Identify and resolve systemic performance and reliability issues in production
Build and scale interactive, data-heavy applications and AI-driven workflows
Partner with design, backend, and AI/ML teams to shape product direction and UX
Guide long-term UI technical strategy and key architectural decisions across teams

Requirements (Must-have)

Strong expertise in React and TypeScript, including architectural decision-making at scale
Proven experience leading frontend teams or acting as a technical lead on complex systems
Track record owning and delivering large-scale, production-critical frontend systems
Experience driving cross-team/org-level initiatives (e.g., design systems, platform work, performance improvements)
Deep understanding of frontend architecture, performance tradeoffs, and scalability
Experience integrating complex systems via GraphQL and/or REST APIs
Strong debugging skills across browser, performance, and production environments
Demonstrated ownership of codebase health, system reliability, and engineering standards
Ability to operate independently and drive clarity in ambiguous problem spaces
Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical decisions across teams

Nice to have

Experience with Next.js (or similar) in production at scale
Experience with monorepos and large shared codebases
Experience building AI-powered or data-intensive products
Familiarity with frontend observability and performance tooling
Product sense to balance technical and UX tradeoffs
