Senior Frontend Engineer (Team Lead)

Role overview

Lead the development and evolution of Meltwater’s frontend platform. This is a hands-on Senior Frontend Engineering role that also combines team leadership and org-wide technical influence across UI architecture, performance, and design systems.

What you’ll work on

• Lead a team of frontend engineers: own delivery, execution quality, and technical direction
• Own complex frontend systems end-to-end: from design to long-term production health
• Drive org-wide initiatives across:
  • Design systems
  • Application performance
  • Frontend technical standards
• Define and evolve frontend architecture to improve scalability, reliability, and iteration speed
• Set and enforce engineering standards for code quality, testing, and maintainability
• Identify and resolve production performance/reliability issues proactively
• Build and scale interactive, data-heavy applications and AI-driven workflows
• Partner with design, backend, and AI/ML teams to shape product direction and UX
• Mentor and develop engineers, including holding the team accountable to high standards

Level expectations

• Operate as a technical leader for frontend across the team and contribute at the org level
• Own outcomes including system health, performance, and developer productivity
• Drive large, ambiguous initiatives with cross-team dependencies
• Influence decisions beyond your immediate team and guide long-term UI technical strategy

Must-have

• Strong React and TypeScript expertise, including architectural decision-making at scale
• Proven experience leading frontend teams or acting as a technical lead on complex systems
• Track record owning and delivering large-scale, production-critical frontend systems
• Experience driving cross-team/org-level initiatives (e.g., design systems, platform/performance improvements)
• Deep understanding of frontend architecture, performance tradeoffs, and scalability
• Experience integrating complex systems via GraphQL and/or REST APIs
• Excellent debugging skills across browser, performance, and production environments
• Demonstrated ownership of codebase health, system reliability, and engineering standards
• Ability to operate independently in ambiguous problem spaces
• Strong communication skills to influence technical decisions across teams

Nice to have

• Production experience with Next.js (or similar frameworks)
• Experience working in monorepos and large shared codebases
• Experience building AI-powered or data-intensive products
• Familiarity with frontend observability/performance tooling
• Product sense and ability to balance technical and UX tradeoffs
