About the role
Role Overview
Senior Frontend Engineer (Performance) on the Viewer team, focused on frontend performance tuning and optimization for high-traffic live streaming experiences.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve issues including excessive renders, long tasks, memory leaks, layout shifts, and heavy JavaScript execution.
- Define and improve measurable performance targets using monitoring tools and business metrics.
- Establish and maintain performance budgets, dashboards, and alerts.
- Share performance expertise through technical talks, workshops, documentation, mentoring, and tooling.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent experience.
- Deep expertise in modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, Svelte, etc.), TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Expert proficiency with Chrome DevTools and performance tooling (React Profiler, Lighthouse, CPU profiles, and related analysis tools).
- Senior-level technical leadership with the ability to influence architecture and advise cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of browser internals (JavaScript execution, layout, painting, compositing).
- Proven experience improving Core Web Vitals using real-user data.
- Hands-on experience diagnosing memory leaks and optimizing frontend performance (rendering and asset delivery, etc.).
Nice-to-haves
- Strong experience turning performance findings into standards, tooling, dashboards, and alerts (performance budgets).
