About the role
Role Overview
Senior Frontend Engineer (Performance) on the Viewer team, focused on frontend performance tuning and optimization for high-traffic, interactive viewing experiences.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve performance issues such as:
- Excessive renders
- Long tasks
- Memory leaks
- Layout shifts
- Heavy JavaScript execution
- Define and improve measurable performance targets using monitoring tools and business metrics.
- Establish and maintain performance budgets, dashboards, and alerts.
- Share expertise across the organization via:
- Technical talks and workshops
- Documentation
- Mentoring
- Performance tooling
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent experience.
- Deep expertise with modern frontend frameworks: React, Angular, Vue, Svelte, etc.
- Strong knowledge of TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Expert with Chrome DevTools, React Profiler, Lighthouse, CPU profiling, and performance analysis tools.
- Senior-level technical leadership; able to influence architecture and advise cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of browser internals (JavaScript execution, layout, painting, compositing).
- Proven experience improving Core Web Vitals using real-user data.
- Hands-on experience diagnosing memory leaks and optimizing rendering and asset delivery.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $180,000–$215,000/year (excluding additional compensation/benefits)
