Senior Frontend Engineer (Performance)

Role overview

Senior Frontend Engineer (Performance) focused on frontend performance tuning and optimization within the Viewer team. You will diagnose rendering/execution issues, improve performance metrics, and help set organizational standards for frontend efficiency on high-traffic platform experiences.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve issues related to excessive renders, long tasks, memory leaks, layout shifts, and heavy JavaScript execution.
• Define and improve measurable frontend performance targets using monitoring tools and business metrics.
• Establish and maintain performance budgets, dashboards, and alerts.
• Share and scale performance expertise via technical talks, workshops, documentation, mentoring, and tooling.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent experience.
• Deep expertise with modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, Svelte, etc.) plus TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Expert proficiency with Chrome DevTools, React Profiler, Lighthouse, CPU profiles, and other performance analysis tools.
• Senior-level technical leadership; ability to influence architecture and advise cross-functional teams.
• Strong understanding of browser internals: JavaScript execution, layout, painting, and compositing.
• Proven experience improving Core Web Vitals using real-user data.
• Hands-on experience diagnosing memory leaks and optimizing rendering and asset delivery.

Compensation & benefits

• Base salary range: $180,000–$215,000 annually (additional compensation/benefits may apply).
• Fully remote.
