Senior Frontend Engineer

Role overview

Senior Frontend Engineer at Pandektes, building the interface layer of an AI-powered legal research product. You’ll shape how legal professionals interact with streaming AI reasoning, complex document/AI chat experiences, and “instant-feeling” search over millions of legal sources.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end implementation of frontend features from architecture decisions through polished UI delivery.
• Build and maintain complex surfaces including:
  • AI chat with streaming reasoning
  • PDF and document viewers
  • Modal stacks
  • Search and navigation layer
• Help shape the component library and frontend architecture as the team scales.
• Partner with design and product to turn ambiguous problems into shipped features.
• Raise frontend quality through code reviews, technical direction, and shared standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of frontend experience with deep expertise in React and TypeScript.
• Solid knowledge of Next.js (App Router preferred).
• Strong CSS fundamentals and comfort with modern styling approaches (e.g., Tailwind, CSS modules).
• Proven experience shipping complex, stateful UIs in production (not only CRUD forms).
• Product instincts and design sensibility; ability to identify and fix UX issues.
• Direct, low-ego communication and strong feedback habits.
• Curiosity about the legal-tech domain and users’ underlying needs.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating with LLM APIs (streaming responses, tool calls, structured outputs).
• PDF/document viewer work, annotation, or heavy-content rendering.
• Ownership experience of a design system or component library.
• Accessibility experience (WCAG).
• Some backend/full-stack comfort (e.g., Node.js and basic API work).
• Background in legal-tech, fintech, or other regulated domains.
