About the role

Role Overview

Join Alpaca as a Senior Frontend Engineer (Internal Tools). You’ll design, implement, and maintain frontend applications that improve user experience and help empower users trading assets. You’ll collaborate with users and internal stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions across frontend and backend systems.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain frontend applications that enhance UX for trading-related workflows
Work with cross-functional teams to build responsive, performant, intuitive user interfaces
Own delivery of high-visibility frontend features and projects
Mentor peers and help influence the company’s technical strategy
Ensure adherence to frontend best practices

Requirements

Deep frontend expertise and strong mentoring mindset
Ability to translate product mockups/designs into UI
Strong HTML and CSS skills, including Tailwind CSS
Experience with REST APIs and WebSockets best practices
Passion for intuitive and high-performance UI
5+ years frontend development with TypeScript/React
Track record setting or influencing frontend best practices
Relational databases and SQL experience
Strong attention to detail and design aesthetics
Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Nice to Have

Algo trading experience (professional or personal)
Experience with GCP (major cloud platforms; primarily GCP)
Understanding/experience with financial markets
Experience working at a startup
Experience working remotely
2+ years using a modern systems language such as Go, C++, or Rust
