About the role

Role overview

Airbnb’s Reservations team (Guest & Host) is looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to improve traveling experiences for both guests and hosts. The team builds key reservation and trip surfaces, including reservation details, arrival guidance, reminders, co-traveler management, and host reservation workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Own key company-level problem statements, such as improving Host Reservation Management.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with PMs, Designers, Data Scientists, and TPMs.
  • Uplift the Web foundation by improving:
    • developer experience (DX)
    • performance
    • maintainability
  • Contribute to team processes and culture by participating in and improving how the team works.
  • Deliver product outcomes end-to-end, including planning/scoping, implementation, and experimentation such as A/B testing.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of engineering experience (BS/Masters preferred) or 2+ years with a PhD; CS or equivalent experience.
  • Strong expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Extensive experience with modern web frameworks such as React (and/or other listed frameworks: Preact, Angular, Next, Vue, Meteor).
  • Deep understanding of frontend architecture and improving build processes (e.g., npm, yarn, webpack, parcel).
  • Strong product mindset: delivering end-to-end from ideation and scoping through implementation and experimental A/B testing.
  • Ability to set and drive best practices for web client development.
  • Portfolio/personal projects demonstrating technical excellence and product sense.
  • Interest in innovations within the web community.

Nice to have

  • Demonstrated design and UX sensibilities.

Location / remote

  • US Remote Eligible (may require occasional office work or offsites as agreed with your manager).
  • Must live in a US state where Airbnb has a registered entity (with an excluded-state list).
