Senior Frontend Engineer, GraphQL & Networking Platform

Role Overview

Senior Frontend Engineer on Airbnb’s Client Data & Networking Platform team. You’ll build and evolve foundational front-end API clients, frameworks, and tooling used by nearly every product team.

What You’ll Do

• Work closely with Android and iOS engineers to develop cross-platform foundational solutions.
• Partner with Airbnb product teams to understand pain points, pilot solutions, and drive adoption of paved-path tooling and frameworks.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and product foundation teams to extend capabilities on top of the team’s offerings.
• Participate across the full software development lifecycle: architecture/design, implementation, testing, and on-call.

Your Expertise

• 8+ years of industry experience.
• Strong TypeScript experience for web applications.
• Experience designing and integrating with GraphQL and REST APIs.
• Proven background on infrastructure/platform teams supporting medium to large engineering organizations.
• Deep client networking knowledge: performance optimization, caching strategies, client storage solutions, and asynchronous programming.
• Ability to mentor and grow junior engineers and drive web client development best practices.
• Strong motivation for learning and adopting new technologies.

Nice to Have

• Interest in building internal tooling and CLI (command-line interface) applications.
• Experience building agentic AI solutions.

Location / Work Model

• US - Remote eligible (may require living in a state where Airbnb has a registered entity). Occasional office/offsite attendance as agreed with your manager.
