Senior Frontend Engineer (Grafana Data Pro)

Role overview

Join Grafana Labs as a Senior Frontend Engineer (Grafana Data Pro). You’ll enhance the Grafana user experience, build tools that help users express their data, and work across query experience, data manipulation, community feedback loops, and user-first design. You’ll also mentor other engineers and help drive projects from idea to operations while influencing the roadmap.

Key missions

• Improve query experience and data manipulation in Grafana by building tools that let users express their data more effectively.
• Participate in community engagement by listening to feedback and turning contributions into real improvements.
• Ensure performance, reliability, and maintainability at scale with emphasis on code readability and clarity.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex frontend problems, design solutions, ship an MVP, collect data, and iterate.
• Own projects end-to-end and work effectively in ambiguity by defining scope and maintaining tight feedback loops.
• Maintain operational excellence: performance, reliability, and maintainable code at global scale.
• Mentor and support team members in a collaborative (including asynchronous) environment.
• Collaborate with peers, product managers, and designers with a solutions-oriented mindset.

Requirements

• Strong engineering skills building production software.
• TypeScript and React experience.
• Testing experience with Jest and end-to-end/component testing with Playwright.
• Treat tests as a core part of development.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision as a self-starter.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers in collaborative/asynchronous settings.
• Care about the user/community and interest in being an active community contributor.

Nice-to-haves

• Active interest and experience in observability (Metrics, Logs, Traces).
• Experience with Grafana and Prometheus (or similar observability platforms).
• Familiarity with on-call and performing operational/SRE tasks.
• Experience with open source and/or open source-focused commercial companies.
• Prior operational usage of Grafana/Prometheus.
