Senior Frontend Engineer (Grafana Data Pro)

Role overview

Join Grafana Labs as a Senior Frontend Engineer (Grafana Data Pro). Own the end-to-end user experience of Grafana, influence the product roadmap, and drive projects from initial idea to operations. You’ll also mentor teammates, contribute to design discussions, and collaborate closely with product and design.

Responsibilities

• Be a key influencer in roadmap and career objectives.
• Drive projects from idea → MVP → operationalization, iterating using feedback and data.
• Mentor and support engineers; participate in peer design discussions.
• Contribute to and review design documents for upcoming features.
• Use modern AI coding assistants as part of development workflows.

Requirements

• Collaborative mindset: communicate effectively with peers, product managers, and designers; welcome feedback.
• Initiative and pragmatism: strong ownership, can define scope and handle ambiguity.
• Operational thinking: break down complex problems into short feedback loops (analyze → design → ship MVP → gather data → iterate).
• Strong engineering fundamentals in production software.
• Testing as a core practice (not an afterthought).
• Experience with TypeScript and React.
• Testing/tools: Jest and Playwright.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with open-source software and/or companies built around open source.
• Active interest in observability (Metrics, Logs, Traces) and familiarity with Grafana and Prometheus.
• Experience using Grafana/Prometheus in operational roles.
• Familiarity with on-call and SRE/operations tasks.
• Mentoring engineers in an asynchronous, collaborative environment.
• Interest in the Grafana community (community contribution / advocacy).
