Senior Frontend Engineer (Community Builders)

Role overview

Join Reddit’s Community Builders team as a Senior Frontend Engineer. You’ll build and improve user-facing product features that support community building on the Reddit platform, collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain user-facing product features, ensuring performance, security, and scalability
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, data scientists, and engineers to deliver high-quality outcomes
• Contribute end-to-end across technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch
• Define and set engineering standards to improve developer workflows
• Mentor other engineers and help raise team execution quality

Requirements

• 6+ years of software development experience in one or more front-end-focused languages (notably JavaScript/TypeScript/ES6)
• Passion for solving complex problems in a fast-paced, agile environment
• Self-directed, entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable with ambiguity and learning through iteration
• Strong communication and collaboration across diverse stakeholders
• Ability to take end-to-end ownership from initial design through deployment and maintenance
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a quantitative/computer science field, or equivalent experience

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with front-end frameworks such as React, Vue, Angular (also mentions LIT/Polymer) and CSS
• Familiarity with GraphQL and REST/HTTP APIs; basic familiarity with Thrift
• Ability to design and implement maintainable APIs
