Senior Frontend Engineer

Role overview

Join Alpaca as a Senior Frontend Engineer. You’ll design, implement, and maintain frontend applications that improve user experience for people trading digital assets. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end features and mentor peers.

Key missions

• Design, implement, and maintain frontend applications focused on UX and usability.
• Build responsive, performant, and intuitive user interfaces.
• Own delivery of high-visibility frontend features/projects.
• Mentor peers and help shape frontend and broader technical strategy.
• Contribute to design systems and shared component libraries.

Requirements

• 5+ years in frontend development with TypeScript/React.
• Strong HTML and CSS skills, including Tailwind CSS.
• Experience building intuitive, high-performance interfaces with attention to detail.
• Track record of establishing or influencing frontend best practices.
• Experience with REST APIs and WebSockets best practices.
• Relational databases and SQL experience.
• 2+ years using a modern systems programming language such as Golang, C++, or Rust.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to translate product mockups/designs into production-ready UI.

Nice-to-haves / additional signals

• 3+ years mobile development for Android/iOS.
• Algo trading experience (professional or personal).
• Experience with GCP or major cloud platforms.
• Experience working at a startup.
• Experience working remotely.
• Experience/understanding of financial markets.
