Senior Frontend Developer (SvelteKit)

Role overview

Senior Frontend Engineer (SvelteKit) to design and build a new web frontend from scratch. This is a performance-first rebuild with an emphasis on Core Web Vitals, clean and scalable architecture, and shipping an accessible, SEO-strong web experience.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build a new web frontend from scratch using SvelteKit and Tailwind CSS
• Define rendering strategy across SSR, SSG, ISR, and edge where appropriate
• Meet performance targets on real-user metrics:
  • LCP < 2.0s
  • INP < 200ms
  • CLS < 0.1
• Build a reusable component library and design system implementation in Svelte
• Translate product requirements and design specs into clean, composable, accessible components
• Own SEO fundamentals (semantic HTML, metadata, structured data, sitemap, canonicalization)
• Set up and enforce testing standards: Vitest (unit) and Playwright (E2E)
• Establish frontend tooling and developer experience (linting, formatting, type checks, pre-commit hooks, CI gates)
• Lead code reviews and raise the quality bar
• Drive technical planning and architecture discussions, including ADRs
• Integrate with backend APIs and contribute to API contract design affecting the frontend
• Support CI/CD pipelines and deployments on AWS
• Work fluently in an agentic AI development workflow using AI coding agents as part of delivery

Requirements

• Strong production experience with Svelte and SvelteKit
• Expert TypeScript and modern JavaScript
• Deep Tailwind CSS knowledge, including design-token strategy and avoiding utility sprawl
• Strong HTML5/CSS3, accessibility, and responsive design
• Proven ability to build high-performance web apps measured by Core Web Vitals
• Experience designing scalable frontend architectures from greenfield
• Experience building and maintaining reusable component libraries
• Solid understanding of Svelte state patterns (stores, context, runes)
• Testing: Vitest for unit tests and Playwright for end-to-end tests
• Strong Git/GitHub workflow (PRs, reviews, CI/CD)
• Experience with performance monitoring/optimization (Lighthouse, WebPageTest, RUM)
• Experience with agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent

Nice to have

• Edge runtime experience (e.g., Cloudflare Workers, AWS Lambda@Edge)
• Deploying to AWS services (e.g., CloudFront, S3, ECS, or equivalents)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• End-to-end design system implementation
• Integrating AI-powered features into production frontends
• Prior migration experience from React/Next.js to Svelte/SvelteKit
