About the role

Role overview

As a Senior Frontend Developer and Orca’s first dedicated frontend hire, you will own the frontend architecture and lead the AI agents that build the product’s UI. Orca’s mandate is zero human-written code—you define the problem space and direct agents end-to-end.

Responsibilities

  • Own the frontend problem spaces and drive execution end-to-end: concept → define → design → develop → launch → monitor → maintain.
  • Set technical direction, define standards, and maintain a high quality bar through rigorous review of agent output.
  • Lead the frontend architecture as the first frontend hire; evolve and scale the stack for the frontend domain.
  • Perform UX design (e.g., Figma or sketches/prototypes) and ensure UX requirements are translated into agent-built implementations.
  • Develop Orca using Orca itself by refining agents’ context documentation, sub-agents, skills, and hooks for the frontend domain.
  • When agents make mistakes, identify the root cause and update tooling so issues never recur.
  • Assess software quality across performance, scalability, test coverage, and architecture.

Requirements (Must Have)

  • Architect/lead mindset: set direction, standards, and quality bar.
  • Strong ownership: independently drive work from concept through launch and maintenance with minimal handoff.
  • Deep understanding of agent direct/design/review workflow: define requirements, direct agents to implement, and conduct rigorous reviews.
  • UX design capability (Figma or equivalent).
  • Deep understanding of AI Agent Harness concepts: skills, sub-agents, hooks, context documentation.
  • Proven ability to control and debug agent output, and improve tooling based on root causes.
  • Fluency working on large-scale projects using primarily AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex).
  • Deep TypeScript expertise.
  • Strong frontend fundamentals: rendering, CSS, performance.
  • Experience with monorepo tooling (pnpm and similar).

Nice to Have (Preferred)

  • Built AI products and understand the full loop from prompt → product.
  • Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol), including servers/tools/integrations.
  • Experience building Electron apps or complex webview-based UIs.
  • Familiarity with Node.js and IPC patterns.
  • Strong opinions on frontend architecture and ability to evaluate/chose UI stacks.
  • Prior startup or open-source experience.
  • Interest in developer tools, infrastructure, or platform engineering.

Compensation

  • $200,000–$240,000 base + equity
