Senior Frontend Developer

Role Overview

Own the web frontend of 5V Video’s streaming platform, collaborating with backend, product, and design to ship features that perform reliably under real-world network conditions and at scale.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain high-performance web applications for the streaming product
• Work hands-on with video players and streaming protocols (HLS, DASH)
• Integrate:
  • DRM: Widevine, FairPlay, PlayReady
  • Ad frameworks: VAST/VMAP, SSAI/CSAI
  • Analytics/QoE tooling
• Optimize playback performance, including startup time and rebuffering across browsers and bandwidth conditions
• Partner with backend teams on API design and content delivery
• Mentor mid-level engineers and set frontend standards

Requirements

• 5+ years building production web frontends with modern JavaScript/TypeScript
• Strong command of a modern frontend framework (React, Vue, or similar)
• Real OTT/streaming experience: shipped a streaming product and supported it in production
• Hands-on video playback experience:
  • HLS/DASH, adaptive bitrate streaming
  • Video.js/Shaka/hls.js or equivalent
• Working knowledge of DRM, ad insertion, and streaming QoE metrics
• Performance-first mindset (load times, memory, cross-browser behavior)

Nice to Have

• Experience with SSAI and server-side ad workflows
• Familiarity with CDN behavior and content delivery at scale
• Exposure to live streaming (vs. only VOD)
