Role Overview

Unison is seeking a Senior Front-End Engineer to build modern, scalable web applications using React and TypeScript. The role emphasizes component-driven architecture, GraphQL client integration, state management, and front-end DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain React applications in TypeScript with a focus on performance, accessibility, and maintainability
Build GraphQL operations (client-side)
Create reusable, well-tested UI components and maintain a consistent design system
Deploy releases and hotfixes to production environments
Debug issues in production and development
Write unit and integration tests for features and bug fixes
Collaborate with back-end engineers and product stakeholders to deliver robust systems
Apply best practices for performance, accessibility, security, and code quality
Participate in code reviews, contribute to engineering standards, and drive continuous improvement

Requirements

5+ years of professional front-end engineering experience
Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React
Experience with GraphQL clients (e.g., Apollo Client) and consuming API schemas
Solid understanding of component architecture and state management patterns
Familiarity with AWS-hosted front-end infrastructure (e.g., S3, CloudFront, API Gateway)
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control workflows
Ability to perform root cause analysis on application issues
Experience working in Agile/Scrum with cross-functional teams

Nice to Have

Familiarity with AWS CDK or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for front-end infrastructure
Performance optimization techniques (e.g., code splitting, lazy loading, caching)
Accessibility standards knowledge (WCAG 2.1 AA / Section 508)
Knowledge of FedRAMP or other security certifications

Work Location

Predominantly remote, with infrequent office visits at least annually (travel and accommodations covered).
