Senior Front End Engineer

Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer to join PrizePicks’ Checkout & Gameplay team. You will design, build, and own critical features in the React Native mobile application used by millions.

Responsibilities

• Design and build mobile features: Architect and implement complex interaction flows in React Native with a focus on performance and accessibility.
• Own technical delivery: Lead end-to-end delivery from product requirements through deployment and monitoring.
• Drive app performance: Diagnose bottlenecks, optimize rendering, reduce bundle size, and improve responsiveness.
• Define technical direction: Propose and drive architectural decisions, evaluating tradeoffs and communicating recommendations.
• Mentor engineers: Provide hands-on mentorship via code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
• Improve engineering practices: Advance best practices across component architecture, testing, accessibility, and mobile deployment.
• Collaborate cross-functionally: Work with Product Managers, Designers, QA, and other engineering teams to deliver well-scoped solutions.
• Participate in on-call: Contribute to production incident response, root-cause analysis, and reliability improvements.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Significant experience building production React Native applications.
• Proven ability to own and deliver complex, multi-component mobile features.
• Experience with the full mobile development lifecycle, including app store submission and post-release monitoring.
• Strong background building mobile applications backed by large-scale, high-throughput distributed systems.

Technical Skills

• Expert TypeScript proficiency.
• Deep React Native expertise, including performance optimization, native module integration, complex animations, and platform-specific considerations.
• Experience with Expo and its ecosystem.
• Proficiency with monorepo tooling (e.g., Yarn workspaces).
• Solid understanding of mobile testing strategies (e.g., Jest).
