Senior Front-End Developer

Role Overview

Senior Front-End Developer (Remote) You will design, build, and maintain modern, accessible front-end user interfaces for Varsity Spirit’s Yearbook Technology platform, delivering high-quality solutions for complex business needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain responsive, accessible front-end applications using Angular
• Build reusable, well-tested UI components and design-system elements using modern Angular patterns (including Signals)
• Create canvas-based, interactive editing experiences for the yearbook design platform (e.g., drag-and-drop, image manipulation); FabricJS is a plus
• Implement styling and responsive layouts with Tailwind CSS and modern CSS
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate UI components with RESTful APIs and microservices
• Implement client-side state management and data-flow patterns using RxJS, NgRx, or Angular Signals
• Build and maintain automated front-end tests (unit, component, and end-to-end)
• Ensure accessibility via WCAG-conformant UI patterns and partner with QA/product on validation
• Optimize performance for rendering-heavy, canvas-based interfaces
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior front-end engineers
• Troubleshoot production UI issues and implement fixes
• Continuously improve front-end processes, tooling, and infrastructure

Requirements

• 6+ years professional front-end development experience
• Strong hands-on proficiency with Angular (current versions), including Angular Signals
• Strong TypeScript skills, RxJS, and modern component-based architecture
• Experience with state management (e.g., NgRx, RxJS, or Signals-based approaches)
• Experience building/consuming RESTful APIs and integrating with backend services
• Automated testing experience (e.g., Jasmine/Karma, Jest, Cypress, Playwright)
• Working knowledge of WCAG and building accessible, ARIA-compliant UI
• Experience optimizing front-end performance, especially for canvas/rendering-heavy UIs
• Component-driven development familiarity (e.g., Storybook)

• Backend/full-stack experience, including Java
• React experience
• FabricJS for canvas-based editing
