About the role

Role overview

Senior Front-End Developer at One North, partnering with strategists, designers, architects, and developers from kickoff to launch. You’ll help craft end-user experiences with strong focus on performance, accessibility, and maintainability, and you’ll play a technical lead role on front-end projects.

Responsibilities

Build beautiful, useful end-user experiences with performance, accessibility, and maintainability in mind
Translate UX/UI design intent into pixel-considered implementation
Collaborate cross-disciplinarily to deliver strategic client solutions
Act as technical lead: guidance, code review, and mentorship
Contribute to and evolve internal standards, component patterns, and engineering practices
Help manage/evolve design system components and front-end implementation practices

Requirements

3+ years experience, ideally in an agency or consulting environment
Advanced command of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (current best practices)
Strong TypeScript proficiency in a typed codebase; able to model complex data
Production experience with React and Next.js
Deep CSS/SCSS fluency (comfortable building styles from scratch; not dependent on utility frameworks like Tailwind)
Experience designing, building, and consuming component libraries and design systems
Deep proficiency with the Figma product suite (Design, Dev Mode, FigJam, variables, libraries)
Ability to build responsive, resilient sites across screen sizes, devices, and browsers
Ability to meet WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards
Strong SEO fundamentals (semantic markup, Core Web Vitals)
Hands-on experience integrating with headless CMS solutions (Contentful, Sanity, Contentstack, or similar)
Comfort integrating third-party libraries/SDKs
Confident with Git workflows, branching, and code review

Nice-to-haves

Experience with JavaScript animation libraries (e.g., GSAP, Framer Motion, Three.js)
Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.)—and a clear view of when/how to use them

Location / work model

Ideally based in the Chicago area for a light hybrid onsite/remote model
Open to remote locations across the U.S. and Canada
