Senior Engineering Technical Program Manager (Internal Platform Infrastructure)

Role overview

As a Senior Engineering Technical Program Manager (Internal Platform Infrastructure) at Thumbtack, you will drive end-to-end technical programs for the company’s internal platform infrastructure. You’ll collaborate across business and engineering teams to deliver high-impact platform and integration solutions and to ensure they are operationalized.

Key missions

• Drive end-to-end program management across Business Applications and IT Infrastructure portfolios (from discovery and prioritization through implementation and operationalization).
• Lead architecture-heavy platform and integration programs across a complex, integrated tooling stack spanning CRM, identity, telephony, automation, and data systems.
• Own vendor and third-party technical relationships, including:
  • evaluations, pilot design
  • contract and renewal coordination
  • technical escalations
  • build-vs-buy recommendations

Responsibilities

• Coordinate data and workflow infrastructure initiatives across teams.
• Lead alignment and decision-making in ambiguous environments using strong communication.
• Translate technical platform needs into executable program plans with operational follow-through.

Requirements

• Experience working with platform engineering, SRE, or infrastructure teams on programs involving API platforms, microservices, observability, or security infrastructure.
• 5+ years in Technical Program Management within infrastructure, platform, enterprise systems, or IT organizations (cross-functional with Engineering, Security, IT, Procurement, Data, HR, and business stakeholders).
• Proven vendor management experience across RFP/RFI, evaluations, pilots, renewals, and escalations.
• Technical fluency across integrated tooling stacks, including:
  • APIs
  • ETL / reverse ETL
  • data pipelines
  • source-of-truth modeling
• Strong identity/authentication and infrastructure knowledge, including:
  • SSO, SCIM, RBAC, service accounts
  • AWS, IAM, Terraform
  • infrastructure-as-code workflows

Nice-to-have

• Practical fluency with modern enterprise AI concepts (e.g., LLMs, AI agents, MCP/connector patterns), including guardrails and governance.
• Demonstrated habit of leveraging AI tools to improve program management effectiveness.
