Senior Engineering Manager (SDKs)

Join LaunchDarkly as a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the SDK team, responsible for building and maintaining 35+ open-source SDKs and other developer tools. You'll have a direct impact on how engineering organizations deliver software and shape the developer experience across multiple platforms. Key missions: Lead and develop a team of senior engineers, providing coaching, feedback, and career growth opportunities.. Own prioritization and intake for the SDK portfolio, balancing feature work, maintenance, security, and customer escalations across 35+ SDKs and the Relay Proxy.. Partner with Product Management to define and deliver the SDK and Relay Proxy roadmap, including version support and deprecation policy. Profile: - Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including customers - Experience leading teams that build developer-facing software: SDKs, client libraries, public APIs, or open-source projects used by external developers - Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source software is a plus - Working familiarity with several programming languages and ecosystems, and the judgment to guide technical tradeoffs in a polyglot codebase - 5+ years of experience in a formal engineering management role, including managing senior engineers - Familiarity with observability practices and comfort with production incident response - Proven ability to prioritize across many stakeholders and to partner with Product Management to translate business goals into engineering plans with reliable estimates - Track record of coaching and developing senior engineers, including performance management, career growth planning, and technical mentorship
