About the role

Role Overview

Join Docker as a Senior Engineering Manager for the Runtime team. You’ll lead development of Docker’s cross-platform runtime for AI workloads and drive the team’s technical direction, roadmap, and operational excellence.

Key Missions

Lead and grow a team of engineers building Docker’s cross-platform runtime across Windows, macOS, and Linux, ensuring predictable delivery and strong operations.
Own the runtime technical direction and roadmap, partnering closely with product management to align with business and product goals.
Drive long-term improvements to the runtime across supported platforms so developers can reliably depend on it.

Responsibilities / Profile

Hands-on systems engineering leadership: guide architecture and maintain a high engineering bar through deep technical experience.
Experience supporting and mentoring senior individual contributors in a remote-first environment.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Stay close to customers to bridge the gap between internal engineering and real-world trust.

Requirements

Deep virtualization knowledge: VMMs, hypervisors, and hardware-assisted virtualization.
5+ years experience managing high-performing engineering teams.
Cross-platform systems experience across two or more of: Windows, macOS, Linux.
Experience with container runtimes such as OCI, containerd, runc (or equivalent low-level infrastructure).
5+ years hands-on systems programming experience (hypervisors, container runtimes, OS internals, kernel development, or similar).
Comfortable working remotely across time zones with high autonomy.
