About the role

Role Overview

Senior Engineering Manager at Grafana Labs, leading the Corporate Engineering team. You will optimize the company’s IT operations stack and set the operational and security strategy for internal AI usage across Grafana.

Key Missions

Lead and scale the Corporate Engineering team, driving improvements in IT operations and implementing an internal AI strategy.
Manage operation and security for corporate IT systems, including:
- Help desk queues
- Employee hardware/device management
- Tools and platforms for other teams
Define and implement operational and security strategy for internal AI usage, including agentic workloads and automation.

What You’ll Bring (Profile)

Strong curiosity and technical leadership across software and security, staying ahead of technology trends.
A DevOps mindset for IT/corporate security: prioritize enablement, automation, and guardrails over bureaucracy.
Experience delivering internal platforms (IT as tooling/automation provider, not a ticket-taking service).
Deep hands-on experience managing and automating corporate IT systems across:
- Operating systems: Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android
- SSO: Okta, 1Password
- Productivity: Google Workspace, Office
- MDM: Jamf, Intune, FleetDM, Kolide
- EDR/DLP
- Corporate SaaS: Salesforce, Zendesk
- AI providers: OpenAI, Anthropic, Cursor, Google, etc.
- Employee laptops and device operations
Experience running a software engineering operations team; capable of technical conversations and guiding teams to sound technical decisions.
Working knowledge of at least one cloud provider and familiarity with Kubernetes (k8s).
Excellent written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders; comfortable leading through influence.
Strong understanding of the state of the art in AI, with ideas to leverage AI safely while enabling experimentation.
Ability to work Eastern-time oriented hours to maximize overlap with EMEA peers.

Nice to Haves

Background in software engineering/programming prior to leadership.
Experience with Go, multiple cloud providers, and deeper Kubernetes expertise.
Significant experience securing AI tooling for multiple personas (non-dev, code, and agentic automation).
Working knowledge of Grafana Labs OSS projects/products and using observability tools to solve IT/security problems.
Experience contributing to or working with open-source communities.
