About the role

Role Overview

Join GitLab as a Senior Engineering Manager in the Delivery Enablement team. You will manage four engineering teams spanning developer tooling, observability enablement, performance enablement, and development analytics, and help shape a Kubernetes-first platform vision for GitLab.com, Dedicated, and self-managed deployments.

Responsibilities

Manage and lead four engineering teams (developer tooling, observability enablement, performance enablement, development analytics).
Build and drive a coherent Kubernetes-first platform vision serving multiple deployment models (cloud and self-managed).
Provide clarity on technical direction, strengthen team execution, and align work with unified platform standards.
Own team health, performance, and prioritization in a remote environment.
Guide teams through change and ambiguity, building accountability and execution clarity.
Evaluate technical tradeoffs and influence platform architecture and system integration across teams.

Requirements

Passion for platform engineering and experience operating across cloud and on-prem environments.
Ability to assess technical tradeoffs and contribute informed opinions on architecture and integration.
Hands-on understanding of Kubernetes platforms, including core concepts/interfaces (e.g., Services, CNI, API Gateway) and best practices.
Experience leading remote engineering teams through organizational change.
Experience with self-managed/on-prem/bare metal environments (e.g., OpenShift, OpenStack, Proxmox) and how they differ from cloud-first assumptions.
Working knowledge of Helm and containerized delivery models, including impacts on developer experience and production outcomes.

Nice-to-haves / Additional Strengths

Experience with CLI-based AI coding tools and judgment to adopt them thoughtfully while maintaining engineering standards.
Background across platform, infrastructure, SRE, or developer productivity roles, including designing team structures.
Experience with performance management and coaching, including difficult personnel decisions.
