Senior Engineering Manager

Role Overview

Join Defense Unicorns as a Senior Engineering Manager to lead engineering execution and people development while building airgap-native software for National Defense. You’ll manage a distributed team, drive high-quality scalable delivery, and ensure alignment with customer and product roadmap needs.

Key Missions

• Oversee development of innovative solutions that meet customer requirements and drive product success in national defense.
• Lead, inspire, and manage a team of engineers focused on UDS-compatible applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize and manage engineering roadmaps aligned with product objectives.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience managing engineering teams, including experience leading in a remote/distributed environment.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills; ability to inspire and empower teams.
• High technical proficiency to help solve complex problems.
• Strong DevOps fundamentals, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
• 8+ years industry experience, preferably building, maintaining, and managing platforms and infrastructure.
• Deep cloud-native background: architecting and delivering scalable solutions using AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience deploying cloud-native software to Kubernetes.
• Contributions to open-source projects or published work.
• Understanding of airgapped systems, edge devices, and implications of semi-disconnected software delivery.

Nice to Have

• Experience with mobile development, especially Android.
• Familiarity with Zarf and the UDS ecosystem.
