Senior Engineering Manager (Data Processing Platform)

Role Overview

Join Horizon3 as a Senior Engineering Manager for the Data Processing Platform team. You will lead the transformation of pentest data processing from a batch system to a real-time, event-driven microservice architecture, partnering with product and attack engineering to deliver value continuously.

Key Missions & Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of backend and platform engineers to migrate post-op processing to real-time event-driven architecture.
• Coordinate cross-team sequencing with Product, Attack Engineering, and adjacent platform teams to avoid a big-bang cutover and ship customer value continuously.
• Drive operational excellence by setting up and improving:
  • SLOs
  • Observability
  • On-call practices
  • Incident response
• Lead through technical ambiguity by facilitating design discussions and helping the team converge.
• Produce and communicate technical direction via roadmaps, design docs, and postmortems.

Requirements

• Strong ownership of how the team operates day-to-day (not just delivery).
• Comfort with modern cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
• Experience with containers and observability tooling (e.g., Datadog or similar).
• Written communication skills to create roadmaps/design docs/postmortems.
• Proven experience managing backend, data, or platform engineering teams and shipping through the team.
• Solid backend and distributed systems fundamentals:
  • Data modeling
  • API design
  • Queues/streams
  • Tradeoffs between batch vs streaming
• Background in cybersecurity, pentesting, or vulnerability management.
• Familiarity with Python and/or Go.

Nice-to-Haves / Additional Signals

• Exposure to event-driven architectures and/or streaming platforms such as:
  • Kafka, Pulsar, Kinesis, Flink, or similar.
