Senior Engineering Manager (Data Engineering)

Role overview

Lead Omada Health’s Data Engineering organization as a Senior Engineering Manager. You will drive the strategy, execution roadmap, and operating model for scalable, reliable, and governed data capabilities used across BI, ML, product analytics, experimentation, and advanced analytics.

Responsibilities

• Establish and execute the strategic roadmap for the Data Engineering platform, delivering scalable, reliable, governed data products.
• Build, develop, and grow a high-performing Data Engineering organization through hiring, coaching, mentoring, and career development.
• Partner cross-functionally with Data Architects, Product Managers, Analytics, Data Science, Governance, and Software Engineering teams to define technical strategy and the execution roadmap.
• Deliver modern, cloud-based data platform capabilities with strong data quality, observability, governance, metadata, lineage, and access control.
• Influence technical direction across teams and drive adoption of modern data engineering practices.

Requirements

• Proven ability to build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering organizations.
• Strong experience partnering with Product, Analytics, Data Science, and executive stakeholders.
• 10+ years building and operating large-scale data/analytics/software platforms.
• Deep experience designing and operating modern cloud analytics platforms, including data warehouses/lakehouses and ELT/ETL pipelines.
• 5+ years leading Data Engineering teams; experience managing managers or multiple teams preferred.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, analytics architecture, semantic layers, and scalable data product design.
• Experience with distributed data systems, cloud-native architectures, and software engineering practices.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, infrastructure automation, testing, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with modern data technologies including (as listed): Databricks, Spark, Airflow, Kafka, Redshift, Snowflake, Python, SQL and other data/process tooling.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AI/ML data workflows.
• Experience with data governance platforms such as Unity Catalog, Collibra, or OpenMetadata.
• Experience building data pipelines for healthcare or other highly governed industries.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
