About the role
Role overview
Join Aerospike as a Senior Engineering Manager (Control Plane) to lead the development of the Aerospike Cloud Platform. This is a hands-on leadership role where you guide a team of frontend and backend engineers, drive execution against the platform technical roadmap, and ensure strong engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a team of frontend and backend engineers
- Drive delivery against the platform technical roadmap
- Collaborate with product and design to turn business needs into clear technical plans and high-quality user experiences
- Own the control plane architecture for the Cloud Platform, with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability
- Support and improve production systems (including on-call responsibilities in a 24x7x365 environment)
Requirements
- Strong understanding of performance, security, and scalability in microservice ecosystems
- Proven ability to deliver customer-facing services in production
- Experience with at least one cloud platform: AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Ability to translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Familiarity with API design and integration
- Strong cross-functional communication
- 1–3+ years of experience leading/managing engineers (formal or informal)
- Hands-on experience with modern microservice technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Go, OpenAPI, Temporal, React)
- 5–10+ years building and shipping customer-facing applications
- Experience supporting production systems and on-call for 24x7x365
- Experience with NoSQL databases
- Experience with observability tools (e.g., Datadog)
- Familiarity with CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
- Experience building and operating distributed systems (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Nice-to-haves
- Deeper experience across the stated microservice stack (OpenAPI/Temporal/React) and distributed systems operations
