Role Overview

Join Clair as a Senior Engineering Manager to lead and mentor engineers, improve engineering operations, protect team well-being, and drive cross-functional alignment. You’ll play a key role in the company’s growth by championing both execution quality and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team, including effective 1:1s and supporting career development.
• Optimize engineering operations by identifying bottlenecks, improving documentation standards, and establishing clear, lightweight processes.
• Ensure transparency and alignment by acting as a bridge across Engineering, Product, Design, Data, Care, and other teams.
• Support team well-being and foster a healthy culture.
• Drive collaboration and context sharing so stakeholders understand priorities, status, and timelines.

Requirements

• 4–5+ years of direct engineering management experience, ideally in a Series B/C startup and during rapid growth.
• Empathetic leadership with a strong focus on psychological safety and open, honest feedback.
• Technical credibility: strong software engineering background to guide architecture decisions and know when to push back.
• Startup DNA: comfortable with ambiguity, changing priorities, and high-velocity execution.
• High organization / systems thinking: centralize information, clean up workflows, and track work across the org while keeping stakeholders informed.
