Senior Engineering Manager, Backend

Role Overview

SentiLink is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager (Backend/Platform) to lead a backend-focused engineering team responsible for core product systems. You’ll combine people leadership with hands-on technical ownership across APIs, platform architecture, scalability, reliability, and security.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a backend/platform engineering team building systems that power Intercept and other critical applications
• Drive delivery through planning, prioritization, and execution with a strong focus on reliability and scalability
• Own the technical direction for backend services and external APIs (security, performance, maintainability)
• Partner with product and front-end teams to translate requirements into robust backend architectures
• Collaborate with data science to productionize models and integrate decisioning into APIs and workflows
• Work with infrastructure to improve reliability, observability, and developer experience
• Guide architectural decisions and the long-term evolution of the platform
• Maintain high standards for code quality, testing, and operational excellence
• Support incident response and ensure systems meet SLA expectations
• Hire, mentor, and develop engineers while maintaining a high hiring bar
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Contribute to code and technical problem-solving as needed

Requirements / What You Should Bring

• Strong backend engineering fundamentals and comfort staying close to technical work (architecture, design decisions, unblocking complex systems)
• Experience leading teams building API-driven systems and evolving platform architecture

Nice-to-Haves (From the Posting)

• Experience with real-time APIs, productionizing decisioning/model outputs, and integrating with external systems
• Background working closely across product, data science, infrastructure, and front-end engineering
