Role Overview

Senior Engineering Manager, Backend (Backend/Platform)

You’ll lead a backend/platform-focused engineering team that powers SentiLink’s core products. The team owns backend systems, external APIs, and services, as well as the technical foundation needed for scalability, reliability, and security.

This role is a remote, US-based position, with collaboration across product, data science, infrastructure, and front-end engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a backend/platform engineering team building systems for SentiLink’s core and critical applications
• Drive execution across planning, prioritization, and delivery with a focus on reliability and scalability
• Own technical direction for backend services and APIs (secure, performant, maintainable)
• Partner with product and front-end teams to translate requirements into robust backend architectures
• Collaborate with data science to productionize models and integrate decisioning into APIs/workflows
• Work with infrastructure to improve system reliability, observability, and developer experience
• Contribute to architectural decisions and guide long-term platform evolution
• Maintain high standards for code quality, testing, and operational excellence
• Support incident response and ensure systems meet SLA expectations
• Hire, mentor, and develop engineers; uphold a high hiring bar
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Contribute to code and technical problem-solving (stay close to technical work)

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering background, with comfort contributing at the architecture/design level
• Ability to lead teams and guide design decisions while unblocking complex systems challenges
