About the role

Role Overview

Tabbed is seeking a Senior Engineer (IC) to take end-to-end ownership of critical product and platform features. Reporting to the CTO, you’ll drive delivery from concept through production, with a strong bar for system design, code quality, and execution in a complex environment spanning payments, POS integrations, and location systems.

What You’ll Do

Own features end-to-end: concept/design → implementation → deployment → iteration
Design and build scalable systems across backend, integrations, and infrastructure
Apply system design principles for maintainability, performance, and long-term scalability
Write clean, well-tested code, and set team-wide standards for code quality
Provide technical direction and make pragmatic decisions balancing speed and reliability
Partner with product, operations, and business to deliver impactful features
Identify and mitigate risks across payments, POS, and location systems
Improve development workflows, tooling, and engineering standards to raise velocity and quality
Lead via code reviews, technical discussions, and mentorship
Help define/reinforce best practices for observability, monitoring, and production reliability

Requirements

5–10+ years of software engineering experience in production environments
Proven ability to own and deliver complex systems end-to-end
Strong hands-on experience with modern stack: TypeScript, Node.js, APIs, cloud infrastructure
Solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and core CS
Deep understanding of system design, design patterns, scalability, and performance
Ability to write clean, maintainable, well-structured code
Strong product/execution mindset and attention to detail
Operate independently and drive projects forward

Strongly Preferred

Experience in restaurant technology, POS systems, or hospitality infrastructure
Payments/fintech or transaction-heavy platforms
Production experience integrating third-party APIs/systems
Familiarity with real-time and location-based systems
Ability to influence engineering standards and improve team execution
