Role overview
Join Foot Locker’s Store Technology team as a Senior Engineer (Store Efficiency). This is a remote role.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade applications for store operations, inventory management, associate tools, and omnichannel experiences
- Build high-performance backend services and APIs using modern .NET (C#) in a microservices architecture
- Create scalable UI components using React or Angular, integrated cleanly with .NET backend systems
- Implement cloud-native applications on Azure using services such as Azure Functions, Container Apps, Key Vault, App Configuration, and Azure SQL
- Partner with product managers, UX designers, and engineering peers to translate requirements into secure, resilient solutions
- Lead architectural design discussions, code reviews, technical planning, and engineering best practices
- Integrate systems with store hardware and IoT devices (e.g., scanners, printers, POS systems, smart shelves)
- Ensure performance, availability, and security for large-scale retail operations
- Improve engineering delivery across testing, CI/CD, observability, and operational readiness
- Mentor junior engineers and help grow engineering culture
Requirements (Minimum)
- Advanced experience with .NET (modern .NET/.NET Framework, ASP.NET, including multi-threading/performance tuning)
- Strong RESTful API and backend service experience (some SOAP)
- Strong SQL Server and/or Oracle experience (schema design, query optimization, stored procedures)
- Advanced Git and Git-based workflows (branching, PRs, code reviews)
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, preferably on Azure (containers, secret/config management)
- Experience building/maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions)
- Frontend experience with React (or another modern JavaScript framework)
- Strong logging/monitoring experience (e.g., New Relic or Application Insights)
- Knowledge of source control best practices, branching strategies, and code-quality standards
- Ability to refactor and modernize legacy .NET applications
- Moderate understanding of distributed system API integrations and troubleshooting
- Experience performing code reviews and mentoring
Preferred
- Strong Azure Container Apps (ACA), Azure Functions, App Configuration, Key Vault, and AKS
- Experience modernizing on-prem .NET to Azure cloud-native architectures
- Experience designing scalable enterprise architectures (event-driven, storage, caching, API integration)
- Experience writing automated unit tests for .NET
- Experience building Kotlin Android apps
- Moderate experience with Kafka / event-driven architecture
- Experience with MongoDB
