Role Overview

Senior Engineer focused on server-side/backend development for the NBA 2K team at Visual Concepts. You will own backend architecture and services powering world-class online experiences.

What You’ll Do

Build and optimize distributed systems for scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance
Design backend architecture and services that support NBA 2K online features
Develop large-scale computing solutions capable of handling millions of concurrent players
Create and optimize database structures and queries for high-volume, real-time transactions
Deliver low-latency, stable backend services
Partner with engineering and design teams to enable seamless online gameplay

What You’ll Need

5+ years professional software development, with strong backend/server focus
Strong proficiency in C++ and object-oriented programming
Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (Python preferred)
Understanding of distributed and scalable systems
Experience with multithreaded programming for efficiency and stability
Ability to research, evaluate, and integrate emerging technologies
BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Strong database optimization skills (connection management, query performance tuning)
Familiarity with online gaming architectures and service design
Working knowledge of SQL databases (e.g., MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server)

Nice-to-Haves

Experience building secure transaction systems (e.g., virtual currency, account-based features)
Video game console development experience
Love for video games

Compensation (Base Salary Ranges)

California: $130,700 - $174,300 / year
Washington: $130,700 - $174,300 / year
New York State (incl. NYC): $117,700 - $157,000 / year
New Jersey: $117,700 - $157,000 / year
British Columbia (CAD): $115,700 - $154,300 / year
Total compensation may also include bonus and/or equity; eligible for 401(k) and other programs; full-time benefits included.
