Senior Director of Product Design

Role overview

Candid is seeking a Senior Director of Product Design to lead the organization’s end-to-end product design function. You will shape how users experience Candid’s data, products, and AI-powered capabilities, driving design strategy, execution excellence, and team leadership within Candid’s Product Operating Model (POM).

Responsibilities

• Define and lead Candid’s product design vision across discovery, delivery, and iteration.
• Partner strategically with Product Management, Engineering, and Data leadership to influence product direction and priorities.
• Embed design within Product Operating Model teams, ensuring a holistic approach to user needs, business outcomes, and technical constraints.
• Establish best practices for AI-enabled product design, including interaction patterns for:
  • Recommendations
  • Automation
  • Summaries
  • Decision support
  • Human-in-the-loop workflows
• Ensure AI experiences are intuitive, transparent, trustworthy, and aligned with Candid’s mission and values.
• Guide design for explainability, confidence, and responsible AI use in user-facing products.
• Oversee evolution of design systems, UI patterns, and visual standards across product and marketing.
• Ensure consistency, accessibility, and scalability across digital experiences.
• Maintain a high bar for craft, usability, and clarity, particularly for complex, data-rich products.
• Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary design organization (Product Design, Visual/UI, UX Research).
• Ensure user research and insights inform product strategy, prioritization, and design decisions.
• Collaborate with UX Research leadership to integrate qualitative and quantitative learning.
• Promote a test-and-learn mindset through experimentation and iteration.
• Partner with Marketing and other stakeholders to deliver cohesive experiences across touchpoints.
• Communicate design intent, tradeoffs, and impact across the organization.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in product design/UX (or related), including senior leadership roles.
• Proven experience leading product design organizations in modern, product-led environments.
• Experience designing and shipping AI-powered and/or data-intensive products.
• Strong understanding of product strategy, user-centered design, experimentation, and outcome-driven development.
• Experience managing and developing senior designers.

Nice-to-haves / implied experience

• Deep expertise in responsible AI UX (transparency, trust, explainability).
• Demonstrated ability to evolve design systems and scalable UI standards.
