Senior Director/Director - AI Engineering

Role Overview

Senior Director/Director of AI Engineering in the United States, leading enterprise Generative AI capabilities across a large analytics platform. The role focuses on designing and deploying LLM-powered systems to improve fraud detection, automate decision-making, and optimize customer workflows.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical vision for AI engineering and align AI/ML strategy with product and business priorities
• Lead, mentor, and grow an AI engineering organization; build a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement
• Design, develop, and deploy LLM-powered solutions for:
  • Decision automation
  • Fraud detection
  • Process optimization
• Establish best practices for model evaluation, governance, compliance, and responsible AI
• Build production systems for:
  • Model monitoring
  • A/B testing
  • Backtesting
  • Drift detection
• Partner cross-functionally with product, UX, and engineering to deliver cohesive AI-driven user experiences

Requirements

• 10–15+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or machine learning, including leadership experience
• Proven track record building and leading AI/ML engineering teams
• Hands-on expertise with Large Language Models, including fine-tuning and in-context learning
• Experience designing evaluation frameworks, monitoring systems, and production-grade ML pipelines
• Strong understanding of model governance, compliance, security, and responsible AI
• Experience with A/B testing, backtesting, and model drift detection in production
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and ability to align technical execution to business goals
• BS/MS in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent)
• Thought leadership (publications, patents, or open-source contributions) is a plus
